Discussing the Internet, blogging, and business.

Ever since the invention of the Internet, the United States have been number one in the world when it comes to the number of people using the Web. It might be because it is one of the richest countries that is quick to embrace technology. United States also acknowledges that technology can improve our daily lives. However, some things are changing as quite recently United States ceased being the country with the most Internet users. China now has over 300 million Internet users, which is already more than United States has. Among US population around 235 million people use the Web. Before the end of 2010, China is expected to have even more users giving it even more advantage over the American continent. However, not everybody is happy with that turn of events. The Chinese government is concerned about potential social unrest resulting from free Internet usage. Chinese citizens are confronted with the freedom of speech and the freedom of expressing one’s opinions that are present in Western countries. Of course, as a blogger and Internet user I believe that everyone has the right to use the Internet. I am also happy that this is the general trend in the world. There is no point competing with other countries when it comes to number of Internet users. We should rather be happy that more and more of the world’s population has access to the Internet.
