Prostate cancer is a serious condition with which many men around the world struggle each day. Many types of solutions has already been invented, but unfortunately most of them have not proven to be successful. Today, I would like to write a few words about HIFU. HIFU is an acronym standing for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. It is true that most devices using HIFU for Prostate Cancer also use heat to destroy a problematic cancer tissue found in the body of the patient. The Sonablate® 500 is being studied in clinical trials for use in the treatment of prostate cancer in the United States and is not approved for use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. HIFU with the Sonablate® 500 is authorized for use for the treatment of prostate cancer in Canada, Argentina, and the Dominican Republic. It is also available in the Bahamas and Mexico. We will still have to wait to see this treatment in the United States, but hopefully it will not take too long before we see that happen. For now, the only thing we can do in order to try the procedure is to travel to one of the countries where HIFU is approved and where patients from all around the world seek effective solutions to their problems.
