There is a lot of illegal software being downloaded each day and the truth is that more and more people participate in illegal file-sharing. One of the reasons this is possible is because hackers are able to crack almost all software protections that various programmers put in place. It is actually quite scary that hackers are able to do so, however, it is also important to know that programmers are not giving up. Each year there are newer and newer software protection methods being developed to combat hackers. While there is no software protection that cannot be eventually cracked, I am sure that it at least reduces piracy to some extent. Having that that, I believe that it might not be possible to completely eliminate software piracy unless there will be some harsher penalties put in place by the government.
