There are many things you can do to increase the popularity of your blog. Many believe that it is important to list your site in directories, and that is why often bloggers aim for it. Directories that are considered to be very important include DMOZ.org, Google Directory, and Yahoo! Directory. Many bloggers strive to be listed in them, and simply submit their blog hoping for the best. Unfortunately, they will often get rejected because such directories have very requirements when it comes to websites in general. As far as I remember, I think that only ProBlogger is listed in DMOZ.org from the category ‘blogs about blogging’. I do not think that DMOZ administrators even want more blogs about this topic to be listed there.

While I know that some of you were hoping for me to give some secrets how to get listed there, I believe there is no easy path to follow. On the other hand, many websites have been listed in important directories, even without submitting as they became globally recognized as very valuable. I think that one of the best ways to get listed in such prestigious directories is to work a lot on your website, write quality articles, attract readers, market your blog, etc. This way your website will eventually get recognized, but it might take some time. Hard work will definitely pay off so make sure that you put a lot of work into your website. Make sure that your site contains a lot of useful content as that is the most important thing.
