We live in times when most people have access to the Internet. Not only we want to have access to the Internet wherever we are, but we also want to make sure that we have the best Internet connection possible. Many people who choose carefully their Internet connection are serious about saving money, so they might appreciate a good deal. It is important to understand what the differences are between various types of Internet services:

-ADSL is the most popular type of Internet connection that broadband users use. Overall, this connection has usually decent speed and is reliable. You will need to have a phone line if you want this type of Internet connection. In case you are wondering, you can connect to the Internet and use your phone simultaneously with this type of connection.
-SDSL is similar to ADSL but there are some differences. First of all, it requires a dedicated phone line. Secondly, it offers lower download speeds, but higher upload speeds.
-Cable Internet is another popular type of Internet connection that allows high download speeds. It is usually provided by a cable operator, which might offer discounts for cable TV customers. Overall, cable Internet might offer the highest download speeds. However, because it is a so-called ‘shared technology’, the download speeds are going to decrease when many people use their cable connection in one neighborhood.
-Satellite Internet is a good choice for those who live in remote areas where neither DSL nor cable is available.
-Mobile Internet is usually expensive and is often used as a back-up.

Have you ever noticed that somebody on the Internet copied and published your articles on his website? This happens all the time, and I am wondering how dangerous plagiarism really is. If a person copies and pastes your posts, this must mean that your posts are very high quality. Only the best blogs on the blogosphere have their posts copied and published on other sites. That is why a typical blogger does not have to worry that much about plagiarism. Even if someone publishes something that you wrote, chances are it was done by an automated script. If you send an email to a webmaster of such a site, then you probably will not get any response. That is why I would recommend to relax and do not panic if someone copies your content. After all, plagiarism is even a bigger issue in college where students copy and paste articles from the Internet. Since your career does not depend on blogging, you do not have to worry about it as much as universities.

However, plagiarism is still a big concern, and it is especially dangerous if major search engines index the plagiarist’s post before they index the post on your website. If that happens then search engines might actually assume that you are the plagiarist. That is why you should be careful so that you will not be accused of plagiarism yourself. That might be especially a problem if Google does not index your website very often.

Let me say a few words about the Blog Catalog widget. Even if for some reasons you do not want to share with other bloggers how you look like, you can still upload a picture of, for example, an anime style cartoonish character. I saw many people use as their icon a picture of celebrities, which I am almost sure did not represent the actual look of a person who uploaded the image. I heard that someone who put an icon of a Latin actress as his icon started having more visitors to his blog. People can do whatever they want; however, I do not recommend putting someone else’s picture as your own. What if you become a very famous blogger and it will be revealed that you do not really look like how everyone else though?

Of course, there are many other widgets you can embedd on your blog. Just make sure that your blog loads within a reasonable time frame, because havign too many widgets can slow down your site. Another disadvantage of having too many widgets is that your sidebar can look quite messy. The most popular blogs usually have only a few widgets. This allows them to have space for other important elements on their sidebar.

Some time ago I switched to Firefox as my main browser. I did it for the number of reasons, and I am convinced that this change will be beneficial to me as a blogger. Here are just a few reasons why I chose Firefox above all other browsers:

1. It allows me to have Alexa toolbar installed. While in Firefox I can visit my blog and blogs of my friends in order to improve Alexa rank. I hope that most of my readers use Firefox as well.

2. If I have the toolbar Search Status installed, it shows me the Google Page Rank of the sites that I am visiting. It is very useful to a blogger who is looking for possible link exchanges with other blogs. Even if I do not want to exchange links with a website, it can be very valuable to know its PR.

3. Through the Search Status toolbar plug-in I can see if a blog maintains a ‘do-follow’ or ‘no-follow’ policy. I know whether posting my blog address as a signature in comments will benefit the SEO of my website. I know that I can always link to my site, but whether or not the crawlers will be able to detect it will depend on this policy. It is a very useful feature if a blogger wants to have many results in search engines.

Installing a home theater is one of the best things you can do for yourself or your family. I am sure that many of you have your own home theater; however, are you sure that you own one of the best projectors available on the market? The choice of projectors is very wide. Taking time to choose the right one might be worthwhile. After all, the performance of your home theater depends on it. Depending on what type of a projector you own, the performance of movies you watch is better or worse. You want to have a quality projector to get the best experience possible while watching your favorite movies.

Of course, many businesses also use projectors. That is because they can be used for presentations and due to that they are very useful. There are even some projector rentals available for businesses. I am sure that many businesses can benefit from using projectors as the efficiency of the company might increase this way.

When you choose a projector the most important factors are price and the overall quality. You need to find the right balance, depending on your needs. If you only intend to use a projector for showing slideshows, then you may not need a very expensive projector.

If you have ever played a game of poker, you probably tried to study the behavior of your opponents. You also came across a few types of poker players. The sooner you recognize with what type of player you deal, the better it is for you.

-Players that play tight. Those players only decide to play a hand if they have strong cards. When they have the right cards, they will always try to check raise you no matter what you do.
-Players that came to the table with a lot of chips and the number of their chips is dwindling very fast. They are so-called loose players. They will try to play almost every hand. If you have strong cards, you can try to play against such players and you are very likely to win.
-Players that continually bluff and show their cards at the end of the game no matter whether they win or lose. They do it because they want you to believe that they always bluff. Once they have a strong hand, they still want you to believe that they are bluffing.
-Players that re-raise anyone’s raise pre-flop. By doing this, they hope to push everyone out of the game without having good cards anyway.

I have to admit that I surf the Web quite a lot and very often I feel like I am bombarded by ads. I do not mind regular text ads, but I especially dislike flashy ads. That is because they are very distracting and they can be quite annoying if you look at them for a long time. Such flashy ads are usually created using the Adobe Flash multimedia platform.

Do advertisers really need to make ads so flashy to grab our attention? When it comes to me, I usually ignore flashy ads. However, since there is no easy way to disable all ads, we might need to learn to live with them. Actually, it is not true that I do not like all type of ads, as sometimes I might benefit from visiting a site that is being advertised somewhere. That is especially the case if it is a relevant advertisement. I simply dislike irrelevant ads, because I have no interest in them. I like properly placed ads that do not contain nudity and advertise a product related to the website I am visiting. I think that those are some points that every webmaster should remember, because at some point of time he will be faced with a decision whether to include a particular ad or not.

Some time ago, I read an article created by a blogger who claimed that his website obtained a Page Rank of 4 or 5 in 3 months since starting the blog. After reading the article about his secrets, I think that the reason he performed so well was because of using social bookmarking sites a lot. It was a good way for him to advertise, and this way acquire new readers and backlinks. When I mentioned social bookmarking sites, I meant sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, Reddit, and others. I know that many bloggers have not done any social bookmarking, so I encourage you to experiment with social bookmarking to see what the results will be. If the results will be really encouraging, you might consider using social bookmarking sites on a regular basis.

Generating traffic by social bookmarking is one of the biggest traffic generators for blogs. First of all, it gives you exposure. A large audience of visitors to social bookmarking sites will eventually get to know about your blog if you use services like Digg. You are also going to receive direct traffic, especially if your articles are going to get many votes. The links which appear on the front page of Digg can get over fifty thousand unique visits per day, especially if they manage to stay on the homepage for a sufficient amount of time. Another reason to use social bookmarking services is to receive high quality backlinks. Since Digg and other social bookmarking networks are ranked very highly in Google, then receiving links from such sites will definitely make your blog ranked higher as well.
